JOIN THE GLOBAL RUNNING COMMUNITY IN SUPPORT OF RUNNER SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK! LEARN HOW TO STAY SAFE WHILE DOING WHAT YOU LOVE.

Almost daily the media report stories of violent physical attacks on runners. Those who fight back are more likely to get away, yet without some form of training, it’s hard to know what to do. Join instructors Julie Morrill and Rebecca Tolkoff for a seminar on personal safety where you will learn how to fight back. The training will include safety tips, scenario discussions, and some empowering self-defense techniques. Bring your sense of humor and sense of adventure.

All under-18 participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Recommended for ages 14+.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE?

  • How to respond to violent situations;

  • Basic tools for fighting back, including: the ideal stance to help maintain your balance and get away and basic “tools” for fighting, such as punches, kicks, elbows, and knees;

  • Defending against common attacks, such as: wrist grabs, bear hugs, chokes, and being pushed to the ground.

The course will run 60-minutes and is hands-on so come prepared to move! While this is a free event, we will be collecting donations for the Run Collective on-site!

PLEASE NOTE: space is limited, if you register and are unable to attend please email cat@finishlinept.com
